Wes Studi and Dane DiLiegro have joined the cast of Seasons, the upcoming supernatural horror thriller from writer-director Drew Hancock and Amazon MGM Studios, according to reporting cited by JoBlo Horror Movie News.
The pair join Lily James, Jack Reynor, Ron Perlman, and Elizabeth McGovern in the film. James is set to play the wife at the center of the story, while Reynor will portray her husband. The roles for Studi, DiLiegro, Perlman, and McGovern have not been disclosed.
Seasons follows a married couple who purchase their dream ranch, only to discover that ancient spirits inhabit the land. As the seasons change, the couple must submit to increasingly disturbing rituals in an effort to survive.
Hancock is directing from his own screenplay, which is based on Old Country, the novel by Matt and Harrison Query. That book expanded on Matt Query’s horror short story My Wife and I Bought a Ranch, which originally appeared as a series of posts on Reddit’s r/nosleep community.
The project was initially set up at Netflix before moving to Amazon MGM Studios. Shawn Levy and Dan Levine are producing for 21 Laps, with James Wan and Michael Clear producing for Blumhouse Atomic Monster. Scott Glassgold and Dan Cohen are also producing for 12:01 Films, while Judson Scott is executive producing for Blumhouse Atomic Monster. Alayna Glasthal is overseeing the project for Amazon MGM.
Studi’s listed film credits include Dances with Wolves, The Last of the Mohicans, Geronimo: An American Legend, Heat, Avatar, Hostiles, and The New World. His television work includes Penny Dreadful and Hell on Wheels. DiLiegro has appeared in Prey, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Walking Dead, V/H/S/Beyond, Skeleton Crew, and Only Murders in the Building.
Seasons will follow Hancock’s feature directorial debut, Companion, and represents his return to horror with a story centered on an isolated ranch, supernatural forces, and seasonal rituals. Amazon MGM has not announced a release date.
