Horror Movie News Report

An exclusive clip from WHO’S WATCHING offers a look at the obsessive antagonist at the center of Tim Kasher’s upcoming psychological thriller. Dark Sky Films is set to release the film in select theaters across the United States on September 18, including New York City’s Roxy Cinema and Los Angeles’ Laemmle’s Glendale, according to Rue Morgue. Kasher wrote and directed the movie. He is also known as the frontman of the indie rock bands Cursive and The Good Life. The cast includes Zachary Ray Sherman, Gracie Gillam, Olivia Luccardi and Steve Berg. Sherman plays Caleb, an eccentric musician and aspiring filmmaker who becomes preoccupied with his new coworker, Krista, portrayed by Gillam. Caleb secretly records her life as he attempts to make her the focus of his latest film. As his interest escalates, the project draws him into surveillance, manipulation and increasingly blurred boundaries between watching and participating. Rue Morgue’s clip is presented from Caleb’s perspective, reflecting the film’s focus on observation and control. The story’s central question concerns whether Caleb is truly the one observing—or whether the act of filming has made him part of something he no longer understands. Kasher said the film took more than a decade to develop and went through numerous drafts before reaching its current form. He also credited Sherman, Gillam and Luccardi with helping realize the project through their performances. Sherman received the Best Actor Award at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival for his performance in the film. Dark Sky’s Greg Newman described WHO’S WATCHING as a thriller centered on relationships and darker aspects of human behavior, while highlighting Sherman’s performance. WHO’S WATCHING will open in the listed U.S. theaters and other select locations on September 18.
