The trailer for Remain, a new film from M. Night Shyamalan, introduces Jake Gyllenhaal as a reclusive architect whose life changes after he encounters a mysterious young woman played by Phoebe Dynevor. What begins as a budding romance gradually takes on a ghostly tone and leads into a deadly mystery.
Based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks, Remain follows the architect after he moves to a small coastal town to complete his latest project. His meeting with the alluring woman draws him out of his shell while connecting him to the danger surrounding the town.
The trailer’s early scenes present Gyllenhaal and Dynevor’s characters as they begin a relationship before eerie imagery shifts the film toward supernatural suspense. The footage has also been compared by Dread Central to the tone of Companion and Obsession, though those comparisons are not presented as official descriptions of the film.
Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty, and Jay O. Sanders also star. Shyamalan produces alongside Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock, and Theresa Park, while Sparks is executive producing.
Remain is scheduled to open in theaters on February 5, 2027, via Warner Bros. Pictures.
